Welcome to Sanstha Amrit
Welcome | Swagatam, dear visitor, to the website of Sanstha Amrit - continuity in motion -, expressed through Indian classical temple dance, Bharata Natyam.
Dance is probably as old as humanity itself. From the very beginning people have expressed themselves through the most nearby medium which is their body. Even now, dance is being used in all cultures in a different way: as expression medium, to release, to cooperate with others and above all as an expression of art. One of these forms is Bharata Natyam.
Through the Indian classical temple dances, merely based on yoga, I would like to invite you for my workshops, performances & lectures and / or dance classes. A summary:
Discovery of your feminine power
Every woman makes an inner journey in her life because she must discover her essence and her own strength. This process implies that she unties herself from her mother figure, discovers her male counterpart and eventually unites these two forces (Shiva & Shakti) within herself. The energy of the goddess Kali (goddess of radical transformation) dwells between these two extremes as a disruptive but also healing power.
In this workshop you make a personal journey by putting the steps as symbolized below.
Performances & lectures: every dance performance includes a number of basic elements and an unique interpretation, including a narrative and interactive part to the public.
From a traditional India, in which the caste system plays an important role, to the contemporary modern India, with the hugely popular Bollywood. About that Sadhana narrates in her lectures; also about religion and spirituality: how old standards and values in the current, modern Indian, society are preserved.
Workshop Indian classical Temple dance: introduction to the Indian dance culture through ten lessons for those who are interested, focusing on: technical steps (adavu's), hand gestures (mudras & hasta's), eye /neck /and head movements, learning a Ganesha slokham (prayer).
(Private) dance classes: for the passionate dancer an individual curriculum that establishes a solid basis for hand gestures, footwork, dance patterns, rhythm etc. Every period of four lessons is followed by an increased exploration and learning of temple dances.
